For Accurate Peak Flow Measurements: Show, Don’t Tell

Patients who are told how to breathe into a peak flow meter often try for maximum volume rather than flow. Repeated attempts to achieve correct technique can leave patients fatigued and produce inaccurate measurements. For optimal results, use a separate peak flow meter to demonstrate the proper method of inhaling deeply and then exhaling forcefully.
