Psoriasis Action Month Encourages Patients to Take Control

August is Psoriasis Action Month. This year, the National Psoriasis Foundation’s (NPF) campaign is dedicated to helping people living with psoriasis take control of their disease. According to the NPF, achieving clear skin is now possible for more patients due to the increased number of available treatment options.

Individuals with psoriasis can learn more about their disease and how to manage it by visiting the NPF website. The website includes an interactive quiz that shows people living with psoriasis how their disease affects their life and ways to manage their symptoms to achieve clear skin. The NPF is encouraging individuals to manage their disease and seek treatment from their doctors and dermatologists in order to improve their quality of life and reduce their disease burden. In addition, the NPF is emphasizing the risks individuals living with psoriasis have for developing other comorbidities, such as cardiovascular disease, depression, and diabetes.

During Psoriasis Action Month, several run, cycle, and walking events will take place, along with other events to raise awareness. The NPF will host a live Facebook discussion for psoriasis patients on Wednesday, August 15, at 11:30 AM Eastern time, 8:30 AM Pacific time.
